Sunday morning thoughts

This is the day that the Lord has made, I choose to rejoice and be glad in it.
Sometimes you have to choose to be happy.
Had a wonderdul day on yesterday at the Expo, I will definitely post pictures this afternoon, until then enjo gt this sneak peak of pics,

My Sissy's new do

I braided my sisters hair on Tuesday, she called me up and asked for a mohawk and being the best big sister that I am, not to mention I would do anything for her, I braided away. Check out her new style. She wanted something just simple, which I did and added a little flare to the back.
I think she looks cute.

Tuesday reading review: The Help

So it is not Tuesday but I was really busy yesterday and this morning with playdates with the girls I am just doing a book review.

I decided to do a review on this book since the move is coming out August 11, I'm so excited and I just can't hide it.  This movie comes out in the middle of the week but I just may sacrifice some rest and go see it. I read this book back in November, it was the first book I purchased on my Kindle after hearing great reviews from my cousin and stepmom who are also avid readers, they surely did not steer me wrong on this one.  

This book is set in Jackson, Mississippi in 1962, a time where black women were "The Help" in alot of white houses, well now, a young white college girl named Skeeter decides she wants to write a book about what really goes on in these houses and it just goes from there.  It is not one of those sad treating black people bad  back in the day books, it is actually funnny and I couldn't put it down.  The book follows Aibileen and Minny and their thoughts as they take care of house, each one narrates their own chapter about what really goes on in the homes and I promise you could almost hear their southern voices, or either pretend you are southern  and try reading like that...yes I did find myself doing that some, don't judge me.

The homeowners who are upper class white ladies in the story are also Skeeters good friends and when they start reading the book and wondering if it is really about them they start having hissy fits

I recommend this book to anyone of all races, it is just and exceptional read and I know you will find it entertaining.

Tennesssee Natural Hair Care and Wellness Expo

Time is almost here, three more days until The Expo and I am so excited.  I am even wondering should I keep my hair in the twists they are in now, or let it do what it do like I am sure everyone else will, lol.  Anyways I am so excited at who will be there, one of my favorite stores the Bubble Bistro will be there with all their goodies, the owner graduated from high school with me, she has some great stuff ,check out her shop. 
FYI: the bath bombs and body oil are great, and my husband loves the Skin Vacuum, black soap that has cleared all his razor bumps away, seriously.

Sarah Elliott-Owner/Designer of Sarenzo Beads, can't wait to get some of those.

Some of Memphis own

The Philosophy and Politics of Natural Hair - Pearl "The Hair Deva" Walker, of Legacy Locks, Braids, and Natural Styles.  I will definitely check this shop out when school starts back and I am back on a regular pay schedule (clearing my throat).

Transitioning to Chemical-Free Hair - Takeisha Berry-Brooks, Owner/Stylist, A Natural Hair Affair Beauty Lounge.  I have done a consult at her shop but did not end up getting my hair done but my sis in law goes there and loves it.

There will also be a class on Becoming Fibroid Free, I will surely like to get into that one, I currently do have uterin fibroids that are shrinking but may also be causing some problems so I would like to learn more about that.

Excitement is in the air, stay tuned.

Blogger issues making me blue

I am having some serious Blogger issues and they are making me more than blue...
I can't seem  to leave comments on blogs if the comment box is posted under the post but if it is a pop up window it works well.  I also am noticing that when looking at other blogs I follow the page is showing that I am not signed in and apparently I am cause I am trying to leave a comment.  And third, I don't know if my followers are able to leave me a comment, if not please shoot me an email and say something to the effect of  "hey girl, can't leave a comment." 
This problem keeps coming and going and I don't know why but it is very frustrating for me.  If somebody knows what to do please help.

I hate not being able to leave comments on some of my favorite blogs :(
