Avocado Hair Treatment

I love avocados and guacamole is a definite go to with some chips but surely I never thought to put it in my hair, but as I type this I am sitting with avocado hair treatment under a shower cap, now, who knew.
Apparently, avocados are geat for hair growth, strengthens hari and adds shine...one serving of avocado mask for me please.  Avocados (oil) are full of Vitamin E which is important for healthy hair growth and reducing shedding hair, the oil is next on my shopping list.
Let's not forget about the protein in avocados too, I'm not a protein fan especially after reading some scary failed attemps at protein treatments.  So why not give this one a try, it's not a chemical so surely no harm can be done.

Here is what I did:
2 Avocados
Olive Oil, I started with 2tbsp then added more as needed
jojoba oil, about 2tbsp
water
and blended in my mini food processor.
for storage I put it in my plastic containers, make sure you put the seed in there with the mixture to keep it from turning brown.  Freeze any extra.

My thoughts:  I didn't not have that hallelujah moment with this, but it was a nice treatment.  It was the same effect I get after doing a deep treatment after shampooing and sitting under the dryer, I definitely liked skipping that part.  My hair was shiney though.  Would I do it again, yep, just because...maybe in another 2 weeks to see if the effects are consistent.

Afterwards I used my KeraCare samples to finish washing and styling my hair, be back with that review soon.

Wash day. I made it another two weeks with a protective style, that makes it a whole month. This time though I need another style, summer is over and I don't have all day to twist my hair, I will be searching the web for some ideas.

On another note I just made some hair pudding using a recipe I found on Mixology101, I will be using it today to see how I like it. I also took about 1/2 a cup of the mixture and added two tbsp of Darcy's Botanicals Natural Coils Curling Jelly and whipped the two together cause I don't like it alone, it turned out great and man does it smell good. I will be trying it out too and will let you know how both of these turn out, I will be using the pudding on my daughters hair too and will post pics of her hair.

Another protective style

So I know I said I did not care for protective styles, but here is another style. I did these on Tuesday night, to twist I used a homemade moisturizing buttercreme that I concocted myself. OMG! that stuff turned out so great, smooth and soft, and it does not leave residue. Not to mention my hair has been nice and moisturized since using. I made it for my daughters' hair, but they have been at grandma's house so I just tried it for myself, can't wait to use it them.

Recipe: (something like this, but you can mix accordingly)
2 oz shea butter
1 oz Palmer Coconut hair lotion
1 tbsp honey
2 tbsp coconut oil
about 1 oz vegetable glycerin

I am loving it! Being natural that is. For the past week I have been experimenting with two hair products that I mixed up myself. Since I put myself on a hair budget, hey I gotta do what I gotta do. . . with products that I already have and according what they already do , I mix them together to make them better.

The first recipe was a total hit with my hair, it leaves it feeling soft and fluffy all day.

1. Silk Leave In Conditioner ( this amount lasts cause of my TWA)

  • 3tbsp Cantu Leave In With Shea Butter

  • 3tsp Cantu Shea Butter Super Soft Hair Silk
Mix, Mix, Mix however much you want!
VOILA! Match made by Naturallady. I didn't like how these two products worked together so I decided to mix them, together they ROCK!

My next recipe I probably use about twice a day, just to freshen up my curls

2. Shea Butter Hair Spritz

  • 6-8 oz water

  • 2 tbsp Organix Shea Butter Conditioner

  • 3tsp Black Earth Products Healing Oyl

  • Spray bottle
Shake all these ingredients together for a perfect spritz. The great thing about the OYL is that it already contains many natural oils in it so you are not buying alot of stuff. The past two days I did not do a cowash I just woke up and dampened my hair with the spritz and applied some of my Lock It Up and was out the door.

Remember what works for me may not work for you, just play around with the amount and see what you get. I got super soft hair. Good luck!
