Carols Daughter Curl Defining Hair Milk

For my birthday, which was on the 23, my hubby bought me some Carol's Daughter Curl Defining Hair Milk.  Why? Cause I asked for it.
I am not big on curl defining, one because I am not big on definition and two because wash and go on this hair is a no go.  I go it partly because I was just interested and it was my birthday and hubby said he was taking me shopping so I couldn't pass it up.

My results after the first try:
Curl Perfecting Shampoo: I was not impressed with it much, my hair felt rough after shampooing, whenever I  use it again maybe I will add some oils, or rather, I think it may be good watered down a little.  It smells amazing though.  It won't be my staple shampoo, sorry still not better than my Shea Moisture

Gentle Shampoo for Curly Hair
We love this because it:
  • Is SLS/SLES/Sulfate-Free

  • Minimizes tangles and balances moisture with Pro-vitamin B5 (Panthenol)

  • Conditions scalp and protects from moisture loss with Vitamin A (Retinyl Palmitate)

  • Protects from environmental damage with Vitamin E (Tocopherol)

  • Leaves your curls soft and bouncy--yet completely manageable

  • PLUS, this has NO Parabens, Petroleum, Mineral Oil or artificial color
    Ingredients

Curl Perfecting Conditioner:  As far the conditioner goes, I loved it, it was even a great detangler which surpised me.  It was like silk between my hands.  I conditioned my baby girls hair with it yesterday thinking it was just a coincidence and it wasn't, the wide tooth comb glided through it.  And once again the smell was amazing. The after affects were great too.  This will be a product to buy again, always looking for something to work in all of our hair.

Hair Milk the Original Curl Definer: Soooo, I did a wash and go with this but only for yesterday, cause I was in a rush to get to church and after an hour and a half of Zumba my hair was super sweated out on Saturday.  Anyways, this left my hair so soft but unfortunately there was a no day two cause I just couldn't do it.  I also like that is a lotion form.
Styling Aid for Already-Defined Curls That Need Control
    We love this because it:

    Mother May???

I love being a momma to my two Twinkle toes, but seriously if I had a third girl I think I would go craZy.  All the hair combing and froo frooo? shopping...the thought makes my head hurt.
My 8 year old comes to me this morning, 8a.m mind you, and says "Before we go spend the night grandma's house can we stop by the Gap store just to see what kind of clothes they have?"  of course I gave her one of my LOOKS cause I don't shop there at all.  I politely asked why and she said again " my friend Carrigan shops there and she wears cute clothes."  Huh, and I don't get cute clothes from my all time favorite The Children's Place where I get a rush of energy whenever I see they are having a sale...so I politely told her they have the same clothes just like everybody else just a little pricier but she still wants to go.  What have we gotten ourselves into,  I told my husband this one will take all his money not mine, lol.
As for my 5 year old she loves clothes but could care less about shopping, apparenlty there is two much walking involved.  So then she starts whining and gets in trouble and we end up leaving the store and she is back to happy.  What am I going to do with her?
Pros of having girls:  I always have a reason to shop and then have to buy matching hair bows, you know the  big colorfully decorated ones, cause I tried making my own and got frustrated.
    * I'll always have shopping buddies when none of my friends are available
*All the bonding that will take place as they turn into teenagers...when they are not mad at me about something

My biggest con, the one I am not looking forward to:
*Having to have "The Talk" with them, sure we have talked about our private body parts  and how they belong to you and no one should touch and if someone does what you should do.  But I mean really having to talk to them about growing up , that seriously scares me.  Now I know I got SeVeRaL years to go but still,  it's something to think  about.  OMG, one day my girls are going to become little women, then dad and I wil really loose our minds.  Wanna hear something funny, my dad raised me and he was the first one to talk to me about getting your period, it was right after watching The Cosby show episode where Ruby got hers, he wasn't nervous and did pretty good, go figure.
    Back to cons:
*Having to girls means two head to comb, not fun especially when you throw mine in the mix, I  remember at one point I was washing hair every weekend.  Now I braid up my oldests hair  and wash every 3 weeks and flat iron and wash the youngest every 3 weeks all that gets done the same weekend and yes it take all two days.  It almost makes me want to cut my hair off again.
*Having two girls that are close in age means there is alot of arguing between them ALL the time.  I am constantly telling such and such to leave such and such alone or either someone is tattling on the other then I start getting frustrated and start yelling to then it all goes down hill from there.  My husband thinks we are all crazy but I am sure he wouldn't trade us, I hope  not.

No I am not pregnant or getting there any time soon but when and if we do I will be praying really, really hard for a boy.

So I said all that just to say that being a mom is great, lol, but has plenty of stressors and my stress level has hit the roof.
Sooooo my wonderful husband has booked me room at The Embassy Suites Hotel for the weekend for some peace and quiet away from the house so no cleaning frenzies for me.  As much as I love my family it is nice to get away for a while and enjoy some me time.  So have a great weekend Blog world.

    Measures my hair

Another snow day from work.....the sun is shining and everything is melting.  Unfortunately, we have some back road bus routes and for the safety of children no bussing, and if they can't go to school neither can the rest of the county...go figure.  And supposedly if the weather man is right we will be off again on Monday if we get more snow.
But anyways, I thought I would do length check of my hair and see where I am at.
     Front= 8in
Sides= 8in (my hair grows slow there, also dealing with this sides)
Tip Top= 9in, not surprised, always grows the longest, I think that is with everyone.
Back= 8.5in, grows fast there too.

As my challenge to myself I am going to continue my growth retention/challenge until the summer, I will not be doing another measurement until then, I know it has been a few months since I did a lenght check.  I need to go back and find the last one cause that's not something I was really keeping up with, life is way too busy for that.

Todays Hair.  Have a great day.

    Another snow day!!

Gotta love working for schools, half day today due to the snow, 2:30 and I was outtie. Yes we got out early for snow, something we don't usually get here in Memphis but like when we do.

I promise it is snowing, just can't tell on the picture.

My little Princess does not like the snow.
    She is so girly.

    Snow pictures from last week.

Yes, she threw that at me.

Can't go play in my hair so think I will go find something to make.
    Enjoy your day!!!!!!!

    Back to Straight

On my last post I said I was going to do a protective style but goodness gracious, I was loving straight hair and had to go back. But first here is a henna pic, the Karishma henna is gggreat (in my Tony the Tiger voice), I can't wait to do another.  Oh, and I must say my hair had no problems reverting back to curly :)  I flat ironed the same way as in my video here.
    $1.99 at local Indian Store

     Henna bout to be rinsed...

     hair after rinsing...

I wish you could see the red highlights
from the Henna, very subtle but
    turned out exactly right.
    Super shiny too.

Lovin my hair and the versatility.  I wore my hair straight for the last three weeks, this time I may just do two but if by the end of  the second week my hair is still looking good I will go one more and then do another henna,  or maybe just an Amla treatment, bout the same as Henna but just won't give me any more color cause I like where it is now.

    Monday, January 17, 2011

What a hair raising weekend,  my hair was washed and Henna'd and it is feeling great.  I ended up buying Karishma brand Herbal Henna and loved  it better than the henna itself.  It already contains Amla but I still bought a box and added half to the Henna.  I also added some Cholesterol conditioner with Shea Butter.  Can you say AMAZING!  She felt super fresh.  NO pics yet though, I wore my hair in a twist n curl for church yesterday...since I am off today I am trying to figure out what I want to do, flat iron or just do a quick protective style.  Hmmmm...I was so loving my straigh hair and my hubby surely was, lol, but I was missing my hair just a little but.  Ok, so I think I made up my mind let's get started on a protective style

    Wash Day

Wash day, hallelujer.  I made it three weeks with straight hair and believe me it wasn't easy cause I was definitely tempted to wash it last week especially when I had two extra days off due to snow.  Just getting back from Zumba, and I am still walking around with my pre poo mixture in my hair that I got from Chicoro, aloe vera juice, castor oil, jojoba oil, and coconut oil, got a nice deep oil treatment in my workout today, feeling the tightness in my abs.

My hair is loving mixture, not the first time using this recipe, after applying to my hair she immediately started responding to the moisture like crazy, the curls were popping all over the place.

On today's agenda:  about to hit my local India Mart to get some Henna and Amla, I am going to do a mix of the two and some other things for a good ol' gloss that I have not done in a while

This is going to be great!!

    Holla!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Click here and here to check out these projects

Whew, what a long Winter vacation.  Finally went back to work on this past Tuesday after spending two weeks home with the fam, now we are sitting here watching the snow come down which means we will probably be home again on tomorrow, sad face.
On a hair note, my hiar is still straight, yep made it another week  but I am admitting that I re-flatironed on last Monday so I could have fresh hair for the first week.  I will go one more week straight but with no added heat, just bunning it, I am keeping it very moisturized with my shea butter oil mixture though.  I also bought some flexirods with is wayyy better than the magnetic rods, I don't know why I hadn't bought them before now.
I also got some new hair products from Bee Mine for my girls hair and I must say I really like so far, but goodness gracious it takes a long time for the products to be delivered, I finally got my sample sizes about 10 days after placing the order.
What I bought: Botanical Moisturizing Shampoo- smells amazing, I sniff it every time I open the bottle, it    reminds me of my Hazelnut coffee creamer.
Avocado Cream Balancing Conditioner-best over on my 5 yr olds hair, after shampooing and then DCing with it, her hair was left so soft.  I ordered some more of that.
Bee Loved Hair and Scalp Moisturizer- now this one is tricky, because I did not like the scent, Island Mango, I mixed it with my shea butter oil to tone down the smell some.  Not my favorite scent.
Bee Hold Curly Butter-Good product too, I did my daughters hair in a twisted mohawk using this and it was great, can't wait to try on a twist out this spring/summer.
Waiting to arrive: Luscious Balancing Cream Moisturizer
                               Strawberry Kiwi Serum
I will surely let you know how those work out.
