Birthday Hair

*Tried to get this uploaded yesterday, but you know how technology works*

So here is my birthday hair, I think it turned out pretty cute even though it's not as defined as I wanted but it will do for today.  I have been trying to upload a small video  but that's not working out too good for me, so the only thing I can do is post pics until then.  Once again I got this idea from Westndnbeauty, her braid n curls always turn out so great.  So I used the Shea Moisture Smoothie and with a little Africas Best Herbal Oil. to braid and then added some rollers to the ends.

So it did not turn out as defined as I wanted it to but it's big hair like I like so I wasn't messed up about it. I think know that I need something a little more water based and something good for hold, hey I used what I had.  But since it was my birthday I ordered myself a little sumthin sumthin from Darcy's Botanicals and plan on trying this style again with it, hopefully it makes it here before wash time next weekend, I will let you know when it arrives. Until then time to twist and pin my hair back up for the week.
Check out some more hair pics

This picture was actually the end
of the night.

Birthday Weekend

Wow so another year has rolled around wich means it's birthday time.  I will be 32, wow how time is rolling but I still feel like a spring chicken, lol.
My birthday is officially on Monday but I will begin celebrating on tomorrow of course and the rest of the weekend.  This year will be different though, no partying with the girls, nope, just me and hubby this time doing what I want to do.  I want to do something "couply", that's not a word but you know what I mean.  Like I said in my past post, we have been through a rough last month and just need a time to ourselves so we are just gonna have fun together, I surely have some things in mind for us to do.
So I am surely in need of a cute not too much work hair style and ran across Westndnbeauty's site Confessions of a Blog Vixen. I love the braid and curl so I think I will give it a try, my hair is still stretched from the previous washing and blow dry session on last Sunday so this is the perfect time.  Check out the video below and stay tuned for more pictures soon.

Knitted Projects

So I have been knitting like crazy just staying busy and because I love to knit, very relaxing.  My bestfriend had her baby on last Tuesday and my sisters baby will be here on this coming Monday. I knitted some newborn hats for the both of them and a sleep sack for my bestie.  They turned out cute.

 Hats for my special nieces

Hood I made for myself, didn't like so I gave
to my daughter, it matches her coat.

socks for my sisters baby, valentine socks next.

I actually made these hoods for some one that was supposed to pick them up on Sunday but didn't, I hate making things for people after they say they want it and then they don't follow through. Now I have to find something to do with them, ughhhh!

Blow dried twist out

Good evening...what a day.  I spent most of the evening painting my daughters bathroom, my mini makeover. A few months ago a posted a zebra wreath I made, click here, that was the inspiration for  the bathroom.  Almost finished just need my blue rugs to finish it off and some thingamajigs for the wall shelf and finished.  I hope to post pics of everything shortly.
So on to my hair, I did take the twists out on yesterday for a twist out that turned out pretty cute.
 Hair in twists
 untwisted...
 twists seperated...
  and styled.

My hair was so soft and had lots of movement.  Last night I retwisted in larger twists using the Mizani Butter Rich to moisturize for a twist out today, I love it, even leaves your hair smelling great for days, been in the house all day though so I will save it for church tomorrow.  Oh yeah, I broke down and bought the Mizani Butter Rich and the Mizani True Textures Curl Replenish Moisturizing Mask, I love both.  The other day after I Henna'd I used the mask and it put all sorts of moisture back into my hair, no complaints, it even works well on my little ones hair whixh is always a plus with me.
I also finally ordered a jar of the Kera Care Cleansing Cream cause I just couldn't get it out my head from the first time I used the sample several months ago and can't wait for it to come.  It should be here sometime next week, the next order will be their Butter Cream.
Until next time, good night.

New Year...New Me

Wow ya'll, it has been a long time....so here is my story.
My postings have been so erratic these past few months mainly because I did not feel like myself mentally and physically, and emotionally.  I was feeling like who was I to be doing a blog even though I loved posting pictures and the like just about all the things I loved: hair, family, and crafting.  My hair was even starting to get ridonculous, yes I typed it, I was getting bored and just tired of looking at all these kinks and even thinking about having to wash and twist was working my last nerve . Have you ever had one of those "I am tired seasons and I don't feel like doing anything and I don't want anybody bothering me, just let me live" moments.  Well that is how I was feeling. Mid November I flat ironed my hair and wore it like that for 6 weeks washing and flat ironing in between, I wore a bun most of the time. Ya'll I even got a cute quick  weave I was that through.
So to top everything off the middle of November I found out I was pregnant (not planned) but we were so excited to be bringing a new one into the family definitely praying for a boy, but the Monday after Thanksgiving I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks, we were really heart broken because were so excited. The miscarriage physically was terrible,  but even worse emotionally.  I was off work for the rest of that week, then the following Monday everything started again and I ended up having a DandC and was off work for a few more days. I was a wreck the first week crying nonstop and on top of that still having pregnancy symptoms, uhhh, and trying no to blame myself.
No matter how far along you are, that is a difficult thing to go through. I thank God though that I had my husband here, he was so great (of course like a husband should be) but it made me look at him in a whole different way and I promise I think I fell in love with him even more.  He is really wonderful.  We are doing much better now and needless to say we are going to go ahead and try again so prayerfully I will have some good news for you after a while.
Now back to hair, I really did contemplate getting a texturizer and was supposed to get it done on this past Sunday but I chickened out, after debating with hubby he felt I was making a mistake if I did it.  And of course he would have been right.  He likes my hair as is.  So instead I did a henna treatment which turned out great my hair felt like heaven, I DC'd and blowdried only and twisted it up, no flat iron.  I decided that I needed to start this all over again and that journaling  again would help with me finding a new found love affair with my hair.  This time though there will be alot more blowdrying so if you are week at heart don't look  :O.
My plan for right now is to keep it blowdried for as long as it will last and style when I feel like it, rewash and do all over again.  I twisted last night with my whipped shea butter and gel in hopes of a twist out but this morning  I did not want to take twists out so I just pinned it up, it actually turned out cute so I think I will keep this style until Thursday and do a twist out Friday.
I think getting back to my blog on a regular basis will help me get through, I really don't want to give up. I do love my hair.
Here are a few pictures...
