You Too Can Be Natural

Yes, you too can be natural. I love my hair and I know you do too, so why don't you just go ahead and cut off your hair. You know what surprise me is that most, or maybe all of the comments come from women with relaxered hair, long or short. What's up with that?

You know what, I love getting compliments, but I hate when that one phrase comes out of their mouth "I just can't cut my hair off." I use to say the same thing, and then I did it. Of course I couldn't make eye contact with myself in the mirror for a few days because of the shock that all my shoulder length hair was gone, but after about a week and finding the right makeup to go with this new style I was fine.

I bring this issue up because my best girlfriend loves my hair and the different styles I do, not to mention my sister who has locs. She always says she wants to cut her hair off but is scared. I understand where she is coming from, but she just doesn't know how liberating it is. My friend loves hair weaves and braids and her hair could be healthier. I know she wants to cut her hair off, she would look so cute with a TWA, but of course I don't want to make her do anything. I finally cut my hair after 5 months of transitioning because I was just tired of working with two textures and I thought why hold on to the length, isn't going natural what you wanted.

Curly, coily, nappy, kinky, what ever you want it to be is great and I am so glad I did it. I see nothing in my future that even looks like a relaxer, as a matter of fact July 9 will be my one year anniversary of my last relaxer. I know, I can't believe it either. Oh the excitement of things to come.

Hey there,

Our journeys are similar in date. I'm one year and four months in. I transitioned for five and half months after receiving my last relaxer on August 24 2007 so we are one year and one month apart.

Using healthy hair practices and natural products, i've been able to obtain shoulder length recently.

Come by my hair album on fotki sometime to visit.

Happy Anniversary! Some people are just not brave enough to leave their comfort zone of their hair routine. One day, they may decide to try it because they see how fabulous you look :)
