Blow dried twist out

Good evening...what a day.  I spent most of the evening painting my daughters bathroom, my mini makeover. A few months ago a posted a zebra wreath I made, click here, that was the inspiration for  the bathroom.  Almost finished just need my blue rugs to finish it off and some thingamajigs for the wall shelf and finished.  I hope to post pics of everything shortly.
So on to my hair, I did take the twists out on yesterday for a twist out that turned out pretty cute.
 Hair in twists
 untwisted...
 twists seperated...
  and styled.

My hair was so soft and had lots of movement.  Last night I retwisted in larger twists using the Mizani Butter Rich to moisturize for a twist out today, I love it, even leaves your hair smelling great for days, been in the house all day though so I will save it for church tomorrow.  Oh yeah, I broke down and bought the Mizani Butter Rich and the Mizani True Textures Curl Replenish Moisturizing Mask, I love both.  The other day after I Henna'd I used the mask and it put all sorts of moisture back into my hair, no complaints, it even works well on my little ones hair whixh is always a plus with me.
I also finally ordered a jar of the Kera Care Cleansing Cream cause I just couldn't get it out my head from the first time I used the sample several months ago and can't wait for it to come.  It should be here sometime next week, the next order will be their Butter Cream.
Until next time, good night.

Twice Is Nice...and A Surprise Coming

What a week, not to mention that this doggone walking boot I am still wearing wears me out by the end of the day that all I want to do is get home from work quickly and sit down.  So my toe is still healing and my doctor wants me to go to an orthopedist, but I think not, I finally called them today and told the nurse that I may call back next week it I can't walk on it this weekend.  I mean seriously, is a foot doctor really necessary?  I admit I want my foot to heal right cause lawd knows I love me some cute shoes and love showing my feet cause they are purdy....but hubby says leave the boot on so my toe can heal properly.  He loves my feet too, lol.

Anyways, on to my post.  I did a hot oil treatment and washed my hair tonight once again using the Aphogee products: shampoo for damaged hair, moisturizing balancing conditioner, 2 minute Keratin treatment, and the provitamin leave in. I then twisted while damp using my shea butter moisturizer and watered down Giovanni direct leave in.  I plan on doing the same moisturizing regimen I used this past week, alternating my products that include Carols's Daughter Healthy Hair Butter, I could definitely tell a difference  in how moisturized my hair was on this wash day.  I do still plan on buying the Kera Care Butter Cream or the As I Am Double Butter as soon as I can, I know I liked the Butter Cream better than the Double Butter so I think that may be the one I purchase along with the Hair Milk for my daughter.

I surely saw a difference in the my hair shed from either breakage of regular shedding.  I detangled a different way this time and I think I will do a video on that next week when I wash again. This was also my first time using the Keratin conditioner and I loved the way my hair felt afterwards, it was so soft. Can't wait to see the results in the morning after I untwist, stay tuned for pictures.

Also guys stay tuned for a surprise first thing in the morning...good night!

Aphogee Protein Treatment

As promised I did  the Aphogee protein treatment on this Saturday...what do I think?

First of all when I went to purchase the treatment I happened to walk in with a female police officer and we both just happened to be going to the same product.  I asked her if she had ever used the protein treatment and she said yes and that the Aphogee products are the only ones she uses, who would have thought it, oh and she was natural.  As we were talking she was telling me that she uses all the products on a regular basis and that her favorite is the hair oil, according to her before she hits the streets she washes, throws the oil in her hair and is out the door.
By this time I was feeling good about the products.
I bought my stuff and was on my merry way.
I first shampooed with the shampoo for damaged hair, and let me tell you I make sure to read the lables before using and the last thing I read was if gets in eye rinse with cold water, and lawd have mercy, what happened the shampoo got in my eye and I thought I was going to be blind forever.  I rinsed for about 10 minutes and it took 15 for my eye to get back to normal.  It burned like crazy and that was just the shampoo.  After rinsing and drying I applied the protein treatment and this time I put on gloves cause I was still afraid from the shampoo and this stuff smelled bad, I used a spray bottle for this step and kept my eyes closed, not finna get me again.

I sat under the dryer for about 30-40 minutes and came out with some rock hard hair.

After rinsing I used the Moisture Balancing conditioner, then did a DC with my own conditioner and styled my hair like I usually do, oh and I used Aphogee ProVitamin leave in as the base for my other styling products. Style of choice was of course a twist out.

I used Carols Daughter Healthy Hair Butter
and loved the softness of my hair.

So my thoughts on the treatment: I don't know if I was supposed to be able to really feel a difference, but I felt like my style did turn out a whole lot better than it usually does, could it be from the products, I don't know, I do know I loved the results.  I will be doing the treatment again but maybe not in 6 weeks maybe a little longer than that, cause you know you have to stick with a product for a while to get the full affects.
Am I happy with the results?  Yep!

Aphogee Review

My computer is finally back up and running, oh how I missed it, it's ashame how much we rely on technology.
So school is starting back on Monday, sad face, but I will be so excited to see a check.
This week was time to get my girls hair ready for the year after having a break during the summer, I decided to give the Aphogee line a try, I did  a little research and figured I should have good results with it being all pH balanced and stuff, I did like that fact. Here's what I bought.

Deep Moisture Shamopoo- $5
Balancing Moisturizer-$4
ProVitamin Leave In Conditioner-$4
all pH optomized

I used this on both my girls hair and let me tell you I was amazed, I was really looking to be unimpressed but man was I wrong,
Shampoo, makes styling easier, restores body and vibrancy, and controls frizz: from the time I shampooed and rinsed their hair was so freakin soft I was even to get a wide tooth comb through the back section of Baby Girls hair.
Balancing Moisturizer, infuses moisture, improves manageability, softness and shine: the bottle does not say conditioner but it is. I do see why it says moisturizer though because once  again I was impressed at the softness and how my comb and TT glided through the hair.  The moisturizer stays in for two minutes, I did 5 just cause, I put a plastic cap over then rinsed in cool water. Amazing!!! Oh but let me tell you, this stuff does not have the best smell, we all agreed it smells like my husbands deodorant.
ProVitamin Leave In, adds lightweight moisture, improves body and shine, protects against heat: Last but not least the leave in, so I don't like watery leave ins and just knew this was going to be a miss, honey let me tell you, blowdrying was a breeze and it did exactly what it said.  Hair has body and shine and it is also a heat protectant so I did not have to add anything else before drying.

Overall I loved the outcome of my girls hair, I will definitely be using them again on their hair and can't wait to use it on mine as well.
Check out pics below, I am working on a video review and having trouble uploading the videos from my phone to my computer, hopefully I will have it soon.

Greetings from the road & Updates

Yes I have nothing else to do but post from the road, I was reading but I have to save the rest of my book for the ride home. It was hard to put down cause it is so interesting, I will have to post a list of the books I have read, you will not be disappointed.
Anywho, on our way to Texas for the 4th to visit my mom, girls in the back with a little car sickness as usual, they got it honest from me, and that's with the bracelets and all. While driving I thought I would post about my hubby who cut his Loc's out after getting them started several weeks ago. In all fairness I don't blame him, it's hot and he works on air conditioners which makes him sweaty then he starts digging in his hair making it look a mess like it was yesterday. So instead of making me do his hair he decided to cut it off, no worries though he his going to grow it back out and start over in the Fall. Pics at the bottom...

Quick product review: with a little water last night I retwisted my twists from Tuesday with Kimmay leave in and the As I Am Twist and Define Butter...the best definition ever. Took twists out while riding and my hair is so defined and shiney, can't wait to seperate and fluff some more. I think I am in love with the Butter, again.

So Much To Say So Little Time

1. I have officially started couponing, I wish I would have started this a long time ago, now it is really necessary.  I take my lunch to work faithfully everyday, school cafeteria ain't always great, my big girl takes her lunch everyday except taco day cause she does not like the food at all.  Now that my baby girl is going to kindergarten (finally) she will taking her lunch and she likes to eat so I need to make sure she gets enough to make it through the day.  Not to mention my hubby who needs food...I could go on and on about food but you get the point.
So yesterday I got my coupons and hit the street trying out my new found love.  I started at 10:00 am getting my couponing on, first was CVS for my BOGO  box of cereal and Old El Paso Tortilla Stuffers that was for dinner tonight and quite good.  They were on sale for $1.99 and I had a $1 off coupons so I grabbed a few of those. My Baby Girl enjoyed two tortillas.
Next was Walgreens and then Dollar General with the coupons cause they both had some awesome deals too. Okay so now it is 11:30am and I am headed back home to get my list together and the rest of my coupons and print some more and then head off to Kroger's...to make a long story short I spent most of my day shopping for the home finally finishing by 4:30. It wouldn't have taken so long it I would not have been searching the web for more coupons, next time I will make sure to have all this ready before hand, I am learning, regardless I did really well yesterday. If the people on TLC can do it I know I can.
Truthfully, we spend $130 every one and a half to two weeks and that is only on food, if I include household necessities that price would be more so as you can see I need to do something and fast.  Surely as time goes by I will get better and better, wish me luck.

2. I finally had the chance to wash hair, I know I just washed Saturday but last night I noticed my hair was feeling a little uuugghhh.  So guess what I dd? I whipped out the As I Am  Coconut Cowash and got to work.  I washed my hair in the twists that were already in and just retwisted afterwards using the Kimmay leave in (sorry ya'll, that stuff is just great in my hair and leaves it super soft).
On to the Cowash:  I love the cowash and the smell of it.  The texture was like any normal conditioner but the smell was amazing, not flowery but more fruity, delicious.  After rinsing my hair was so soft and still so very moisturized I was very surprised, I have to say I liked it better than my Tresemme Naturals which is the only conditioner I have been using for a while, I was really sad that the sample was all gone :(. My hair responded well to this product, definitely something that I would will be buying in the near futere, like when school starts back and I get a paycheck...
If I had 5 thumbs I would give that many thumbs up for this first time use.
Has anybody else had amazing results with this product?

My Honey Child

1Alrighty, I have been using My Honey Child since Friday, I have used them in two different ways.  But first here is what I bought
 Honey Hair Creme (left) $5
Sophia's Coconut Hair Jel (right) $5.50
I purchased the sample sizes in two ounces and you can also get them in 4 oz and larger.  The 2oz is more than enough though for right now.  I have had some 2 oz samples and and used them up in two days.
Anywho...the HHC has a wonderful smell to it, at church Sunday I kept getting a whiff of it from my hair, feeling good that my hair was smelling good.  I wonder if anyone smelled it too :)  The consistency is a thick  butter but very soft and emulsifies well, my hair sucked it in.  I made sure to apply it to my ends well.
The hair jel had a light coconut smell to it, but Idon't love it as much as the HHC. Sorry that is about all I can say about the jel, my hair is more frizzy than anything so I need something a little more thicker and heavier for hold.

I used both these products in two different ways, the first was in a bantu knot out that was so soft and heavenly.  The only thing was the jel did not have a lot of hold but I still got some clumping, so I ended up using my eco styler gel with the hair creme.  I don't tnink the coconut jel is good for a holding but lays the edges down pretty good, it is very light weight.
My second style was my twists I do for the week.  We have had rain and tornadoes the past few days I needed to twist right away, this is the true test-how will my hair hold up? I used the gel and creme and my results are great for these, the jel is better with the hold and I got some good sheen which my hair seldom gets from the creme.  The jel certainly won't be used for a twist out though.
I can't wait to try some more products because there are definitely boocoos to try, I have some deep conditioners, moisturizers, and other cremes I can't wait to order.

Would I order again:  yes I would, but only the creme.

2So now I am waiting for my Bee Mine order for my baby girl, the Balancing Conditioner and a sample of Deja's Hair Milk.  I loved the conditioner on her hair before but this will be the first time us the hair milk- hope I like it.
3 My sister has had locs for the past two years and now she is ready to get rid of them :(  She called me last weekend asking about how to take locs out and I told her about the techniques that I have seen.  She decided Friday will be the day that she starts to unlock her hair of course with my help, no cutting for her.  Right now her locs com a tad bit past her shoulders so I can only imagine how longer her hair will be, but I did tell her there will be a lot of shedding from the hair already trapped in the loc.  What she will do with it afterwards I don't have a clue.  Knowing my sis she will changer her mind and keep them in, she is soooo not a hair person at all, I wouldn't be surprised if she cut it off short.  What ever she does I will report back.

Carols Daughter Curl Defining Hair Milk

For my birthday, which was on the 23, my hubby bought me some Carol's Daughter Curl Defining Hair Milk.  Why? Cause I asked for it.
I am not big on curl defining, one because I am not big on definition and two because wash and go on this hair is a no go.  I go it partly because I was just interested and it was my birthday and hubby said he was taking me shopping so I couldn't pass it up.

My results after the first try:
Curl Perfecting Shampoo: I was not impressed with it much, my hair felt rough after shampooing, whenever I  use it again maybe I will add some oils, or rather, I think it may be good watered down a little.  It smells amazing though.  It won't be my staple shampoo, sorry still not better than my Shea Moisture

Gentle Shampoo for Curly Hair
We love this because it:
  • Is SLS/SLES/Sulfate-Free

  • Minimizes tangles and balances moisture with Pro-vitamin B5 (Panthenol)

  • Conditions scalp and protects from moisture loss with Vitamin A (Retinyl Palmitate)

  • Protects from environmental damage with Vitamin E (Tocopherol)

  • Leaves your curls soft and bouncy--yet completely manageable

  • PLUS, this has NO Parabens, Petroleum, Mineral Oil or artificial color
    Ingredients

Curl Perfecting Conditioner:  As far the conditioner goes, I loved it, it was even a great detangler which surpised me.  It was like silk between my hands.  I conditioned my baby girls hair with it yesterday thinking it was just a coincidence and it wasn't, the wide tooth comb glided through it.  And once again the smell was amazing. The after affects were great too.  This will be a product to buy again, always looking for something to work in all of our hair.
    Gentle Conditioner for Curly Hair
    We love this because it:
  • This penetrating moisture treatment restores while supporting healthy-looking natural curls. A blend of natural ingredients perfects your curls, leaving them soft and bouncy--yet completely manageable.

  • Helps minimize tangles and balance moisture with Pro-vitamin B5 (Panthenol)

  • Helps promote healthy hair with Biotin (Vitamin H)

  • Conditions scalp and protects against moisture loss with Vitamin A (Retinyl Palmitate)

  • Protects hair from environmental damage with Vitamin E (Tocopherol)

  • Has essential oils of Orange and Lemon

  • PLUS, this has NO Parabens, Petroleum, Mineral Oil or artificial color
     Ingredients

Hair Milk the Original Curl Definer: Soooo, I did a wash and go with this but only for yesterday, cause I was in a rush to get to church and after an hour and a half of Zumba my hair was super sweated out on Saturday.  Anyways, this left my hair so soft but unfortunately there was a no day two cause I just couldn't do it.  I also like that is a lotion form.
Styling Aid for Already-Defined Curls That Need Control
    We love this because it:

  • Is the same formula that people have loved for 15 years!

  • Is fast-absorbing

  • Tames frizz with a natural blend of essential oils

  • Leaves curls soft, bouncy and manageable

  • Increases moisture with Apricot Kernel Oil

  • Conditions the scalp and hair with Cocoa & Shea Butters

  • Protects from environmental damage with Vitamin C

  • PLUS, this has NO Parabens, Petroleum, Mineral Oil or artificial color
    Ingredients

    And a Birthday picture.

    Loreal Sulfate Free Moisturizing Shampoo

Tonight I washed my newly colored hair using the new Loreal Sulfate free shampoo...

I am being good and using the right shampoo on my hair, you know the one for "color treated" hair that I used every once in a while the last time.  I decided I wanted to try this on my hair, seeing that she does not like sulfate, my hair gets very rough after a shampoo. Now that I think about it I still have a huge bottle of Tresemme Naturals  under my sink that she does not like, been trying to give that sucker away.

This Loreal is a keeper, it really reminded me of my Shea Moisture Retention shampoo I use now, my hair was left so soft and still felt moisturized after being rinsed.  I did not get the conditioner cause I used what came in the box with the hair dye which is a great two minute conditioner before I DC'ed, I may buy it next time though just to try it out.
In all, I feel like this is going to be a good shampoo to go to for me.
For first time use I give it a 5.

Shea Moisture and Quemet Biologics Review

I have fallen in love with Shea Moisture's Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo, I used it for a second tome this weekend and got the same effect, soft curls without that stripped feeling that most shampoo leaves your hair feeling after rinsing. I was able to run my fingers through during and afterward. Amazing!  My best girlfriend gave this to me a few weeks ago after she went back to the creamy crack, yes she did, her husband could not get used to her hair after a year and she relaxed it back...that's another story, just like a man.  Relate, relax, and release!  Anywho, I am so glad she gave it to me, I used it two weeks ago and thought  maybe the results were a coincidence.  Well I used it for a second time on this Saturday and got the same results, wow.  I think I have found my new shampoo.

Shea Moisture Organic Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo

Ingredients: Contains de-ionized water, Decyl Glucoside (sugar beets), African Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea butter) (denotes certified organic ingredients), aloe vera leaf juice, Argan Oil, Panthenol (pro-vitamin B-5, rosemary extract, sea kelp extract, vitamin E, Lonicera Caprifolium (honeysuckle) flower and Lonicera Japonica (Japanese honeysuckle) flower extract.

What it does: Hydrates, smoothes, and repairs strands, leaving hair manageably soft.

Other ingredients: Sea kelp-trace minerals detoxify hair follicles of impurities and residue.
                                Argan Oil-restore shine and elasticity.
Shea Butter-deeply moisturizes and repairs damage to hair and scalp.

I definitely give this product two thumbs up!!!
Now on to Quemet Biologics Burdock Root Butter Cream
I heart this soooo much it's ridiculous, this left my hair so super soft the past week when wearing my twist out, I hated to wash my hair.  The consistency reminded me of Afroveda Totally Twisted Ginger Almond Butter the only difference is the smell, I'm just not to fond of the smell of the Almond Butter it triggered my allergies something awful.  The Burdock Root barely has a smell and I like that.

Quemet Biologics Burdock Root Butter Cream

    Product Description
Our Burdock Root Butter Cream is a light, water based leave-in for fine haired naturals, straight styles and those looking for a light penetrating moisturizer. It conditions and softens while nourishing the scalp. Leaves hair healthy, soft and supple!
Key Ingredients: Contains Pure Mediterranean Olive Oil for softness and emollience, extracts of Burdock Root, Nettle Leaf, Oatstraw and Wheat for their conditioning, scalp nourishing, shine enhancing and hair growth properties. Vegetable glycerin for its humectancy and MSM sulfur for nourishment and healthy hair growth.

Directions: Rub a moderate amount between palms and evenly distribute through wet, damp or dry hair. Leave-in and style. Use alone or in combination with any of the Qhemet Biologics leave-ins.

I give this product two thumbs up cause that's all the thumbs I got, if I had more they would go up too.

Unfortunately, my after almost two weeks my little sample size is completely gone I used the last bit tonight, but you know I will be putting in another order for the big size ASAP!

Hope you enjoyed, until next time, holla.

    Protein..Not For Me

Protein conditioner, not for my hair.  I loved it when I was relaxed but goodness not now.  I used the Henna n Placenta DC, my hair was so dry I had to condition it again with my Tresemme Naturals and let it sit for a few minutes, slowly it came back to normal.  Needless to say I won't be doing that again, I love Henna and so does my hair but not that product.

    Shea Moisture Organics video review

This is my review on Shea Moisture Organics Curl Enhancing Smoothie from Target.  No, I did not buy it to enhance my curls, I bought it strictly for moisture.  I really like it.  I usually don't buy instore hair products over $10 but my natural friend girl bought it and liked it-she said it left her hair really soft so I decided to try it.  My twist out has been the best it has ever been...seriously!  Great moisture and softness without ANY crunchiness at all.  Check out the video for more information. Mind you day two hair was achieved using the Shea Moisture and Jessicurl Confident Coils for hold.

    Wash-a-no no

Soooooo, I washed my hair with the twists in it and I have to say I will not be doing that again. I just spent the past two and a half days retwisting my hair. Yes I said retwisting. Don't get me wrong, my head surely felt better to get some water on it and I loved the new conditioner I bought, but after my hair dried it got a little frizzy. Not bad frizzy to my husband but to me it was not acceptable. I just finished the back of my hair and retwisted using my shea butter and coconut oil mixture now I feel much better. I am working on a video and hope to post by this weekend since I haven't posted a youtube video in a while.

Oh By the way the conditioner I bought is the Neutrogena Triple Moisture conditioner, I loved it, not to mention it smelled great, it is for dry and color treated hair so I thought I would use it to see how worked. It has olive, meadowfoam seed, and sweet almond oil in it.The consistency was nice and creamy but not so thick that it just sat on my hair, I bet it would work great as a leave in too. It still needs to pass the wash and go test to see if it makes the cut. So far I am up to three conditioners that Rock. Alright ya'll bedtime for me. Happy Nappy!

    Amprogel Curle Curl part 2

Hello once again, part 2 of my Ampro Gel Activator review.

This time I added some a little Eco Styler Gel with the Ampro Activator, I deep conditioned real good and while in the shower I raked my mixture through real good with my fingers. Again before doing that I added my Elasta QP Leave in to my hair. This mixture turned out really good. My hair likes these two products, there is no flaking, greasiness, or crunchiness. I am really excited that I found something for my wash n go's, I was getting worried for a minute there...

Anyways check out my videos and pictures.

    Two product reviews

    Check it out.

Elasta QP Feels Like Silk Leave In H2, moisture sealing conditionerPrice: $3.99

Product Info: Softens, detangles, moisturizes, and also for natural hair. This product is infused with olive oil, coconut oil, avocado oil, and other organic extracts. I liked this product alot for my hair, mainly because it is not thick. This is something that I can definitely tell a difference when used in my hair.

    Would I use again: Definitely!

I also decided to try Elasta QP Deep Conditioner, loooove it! Man I was so impressed. I shampooed and deep conditioned for about thirty minutes and rinsed, when it was time to style I sprayed with my Feels Like Silk and let air dry. The feeling was super nice. These two products are going to be a staple under my sink.

So my hair regimen consists of this:

Shampoo: Elasta QP Conditioning Shampoo, I usually shampoo every 1 or 2 weeks, I was using Aubrey Organics, but for the price QP works just as well.

Conditioner: Elasta QP Intense Conditioner, use as needed which is usually once a week and Organix Shea Butter conditioner for my cowashes.

Deep Conditioner: once again Elasta QP DP11, never been so impressed with a D/C since I have been a natural girl. I always deep condition at least once a week, my hair needs it.

Other hair products consist of my homemade Shea Butter cream, tea tree, vitamin, coconut, and grape seed oil mix that I dab on my scalp and massage in every few days. I really don't have styling products as far as gel and stuff like that, I haven't worn a wash and go since the end of May mainly because it is too hot and humid here in Memphis right now so I have been doing some protective styles, plus the stuff I used in the winter don't work for this summer heat, it has been tried already. When I find something I will let you know.

Oh, and I can't forget my Henna which I use about once a month, I will be using it again on tomorrow, will let you know how it turns out. Toodles.

    Product Review: Naat Intensive Mask

While walking around my local BSS I ran upon this Intensive Mask Hair Treatment for curly hair. I used it once on last Monday when I bought it and again this past Saturday as a deep conditioner when I washed again. You know what? I really like this product, it was fantastic! It also did a wonderful job on both my daughters hair, which makes it a plus product in my book. My hair was super soft and full of moisture all day, and after rinsing out of the girls hair I was able to run a large comb through it. I have been looking for a deep conditioning treatment and this is definintely going to be the one.

Product: Naat Treatment Curly Hair Intensive Mask; $5.99 at beauty supply store, $7.99 on line http://nunaat.com/.

Info: Intensive Mask with Keratinand Cupuacu Butter restores hair, it was specially developed to treat wavy, curly, and wavy curly hair.

Would I use again: Definitely! As soon as I fun out I will be buying this again and between me and my girls I am sure to run out quick. There is also shampoo, conditioner and a leave in that I would like to try too.

I give this product five stars

    Organix Smoothing Shea Butter Conditioner

Organix Smoothing Shea Butter Conditioner: I have been using this product for the past few weeks for my co-washes and my hair loves it. It has a very creamy blend of " shea butter, whipped yogurt protein, and avocado oils," not sticky or filmy at all. It leaves my hair soft and shiney and ready for styling.

Price: Walgreens: $6.99 for 13oz. I have been using for three weeks and still have half a bottle, but remember I only use for co washes.

Would I Use Again: I will definitelely be buying this product again, as soon as I run out or catch it on sale again. Thanks Walgreens!

I give this product 5 stars!
